Out of Time (Nine Minutes Book 2)

Out of Time (Nine Minutes Book 2) - Beth Flynn The Dark King is still in control of the board. Book two in the series - I'm going to make this recommendation from the beginning of the review. Nine Minutes is an absolute required read. I would not recommend this book as a standalone. With that said, Out of Time is very much a middle book. It fills in the holes and pieces that needed to finish out what you know about the characters from book one. And then, the second half of book two leads you to what will be a wild ride to the final book in the series.

The first half of this book spends quality time on the back stories of the central male characters, Grizz and Grunt. We learn as Ginny does the pieces of the story. Beth Flynn weaves an emotional journey that has the reader questioning what they believe is the truth and where the characters are continually manipulated. As part of a work of fiction, the tale twists and turns to give the reader information to ponder that may be a bit far reaching for some, but I felt that it lent to the uniqueness of the story. I could go into detail to summarize, but its best to experience for yourself.

Beth Flynn has a way of creative gift of telling a story, giving you subtle hints of what's to come in single sentences. This was a book you need to take your time with to read, to grasp the subtleness of the characters. Out of Time does not contain some of the continual gasping moments that Nine Minutes had. However, as Ginny learns more of the truth, the ride picks up speed heading towards a cliffhanger that will have the reader wanting book three NOW!
