Lev: a Shot Callers novel

Mina is desperate. Living on the streets she knows better than anyone how you will be willing to do anything for comfort. Along comes an unlikely Prince Charming in the form of Lev, muscle for a gentleman's club that may not all be upstanding citizen. Mina gets caught by Lev trying to survive and for the first time possibly feels some sort of empathy for another human. Ms Aurora takes us into a not so pretty world of underground mafia dealings and gives us a glimpse on how they are 'people too'.
I love a strong female lead. With Mina, Belle Aurora does not disappoint. She may be desperate for something to eat and a place to rest but she's definitely not a pushover. Lev is the strong silent type. Defined by honor yet detached from emotion. Yet, his interactions with his daughter, family and Mina give cause to think that he feels a lot more than is given credit for. Those feelings that Lev has, I wish we could have gotten more into his head and had better understanding of his thoughts.
If you love strong alpha male types who are really Prince Charming in disguise, this story is for you. This is the first in the series and can standalone. Solid 4 out of 5 stars.
